The ability to read is one of most important goals in Chinese language and literature. No matter in teaching or examination, the ability to read is always what we pursuit for. In all kinds of examinations, the college entrance examination is paid most attention. Reading occupies the important position in college entrance examination, and it has a lot of problems. The cognitive targets of reading assessment consist of cognitive targets and types of texts in college entrance examination. The author tries to observe the reading ability and the types of texts in exam outline and test questions. In the research, the author finds out that in exam outline there are some problems like the explanations of reading ability are too simple, the exam outline lacks the theory and so on. In the examination, the capability goal of reading is not clear enough. Besides, most reading comprehension doesn’t exam students’ critical thinking. At last, the author suggests that the changes include two ways. One way is to build a clear and complete test framework, and another way is to design the questions.
