Study On Social Education In Sichuan In The Early Time Of The Foundation Of The New China (1949-1956)

At the early time of the foundation of New China, there was a high demand for talents because of the change of the nature of our state and the development of the core works. However, the quantity of general schools is insufficient and the time of school education is long, which is difficult to adapt to the needs of national construction. So, social education came into being, which is not only flexible and varied on the content, location, method and means, but also flexible in space and time. Throughout the existing research, there are almost no studies on the research of the social education at the early time of the foundation of New China in Sichuan Province. Therefore, after learning the historical data, this thesis summarized the way and content of the social education at the early time of the foundation of New China in Sichuan Province in depth. Which can not only make up for the gap in research, but also support the construction of learning society.Based on the analysis of the origin and favorable conditions of that time, we can see the clear goal of social education:improving the social atmospheres, improving the social development, consolidating the power of the Communist Party. In order to achieve the goals, People’s Government of Sichuan took every method, not only to increase organizational settings, educational expenses, teaching staffs, but also to organize activities on the subject of education in the areas of illiteracy elimination, career, health, culture, legality, and thinking.Through the summary and analysis, we know that social education played active roles in improving national quality, social progress, social atmospheres, and publicity centers in Sichuan Province. At the same time, there were also some shortcomings, such as:some departments paid insufficient attention on social education, the quantity of teacher was not enough, and so on. In a word, the social education at the early time of the foundation of New China in Sichuan Province is an important historical wealth, which is helpful to the construction of learning society.
