Sports is a cultural phenomenon acting directly on bodies. Women’s participation in sports not only reflects as an evidence of changes in women’s life, but also an important way to construct women’s social status. Body view and sports values, which influence and restrict each other, exert effect on bodies simultaneously. From the perspective of the vies of body, the paper explores the view of body that young women hold, analyzes its impact on women’s participation in sports, and put forward reasonable suggestions, with a view to helping young women to set up correct body views and sports values, laying a solid foundation for lifelong physical education and contributing to further enhancing the social status of women. Urban young women are selected as respondents. By adopting methods such as questionnaire survey, literature and documents, mathematical statistics, etc., it investigates the current status of urban young female’s participation in sports and the body view they hold and analyzes how women’s body view affects their participation in sports. The results indicate that:The characteristics of urban young women’s participation in sports:a small sport population; the diversification in exercise content and the obvious femininity of sports events; the purpose of participating in sports is mainly for health improvement, weight loss and getting fit; a favorable attitude and cognition towards sports; Urban young women widely hold correct cognition over the biological body view; in terms of the social view of body most urban young women, who have developed a complete and independent understanding of their bodies, are no longer subjects lack of self; from the aesthetic view of body, a majority of women, who have not been immune from the influence of mass media and the traditional patriarchal aesthetic view, respect thinness for beauty and take the "surreal" models built by the media as the aesthetical standard; Backward and wrong body view may not only reduce the enthusiasm of women’s participation in sports, but also cause physical and mental damage to the women who have participated in sports; a positive and correct body view can promote women’s participation in sports, contributing to the development of women’s physical education and laying a solid foundation for the enhancement of women’s social status.Suggestions:Our country should provide perfect facilities. Considering the physiological characteristics of women while meeting the public demand, it should also offer special facilities and venues and staff guidance to promote women’s participation in sports in terms of objective conditions; The mass media should promote right aesthetic standards conforming to the trend of the times, assume social responsibility, and resolutely resist the spread of an extreme distorted aesthetic form; Urban young women should correctly evaluate themselves physically and psychologically to find a proper participation way and a suitable level of sports so as to achieve effective physical functions and values to their health.
