| Massive Open Online Course(MOOC), by means of the resources from international well-known universities and their best teachers, spring up rapidly by the use of Internet platform. It has been successful to make millions of students all around the world to learn from the international famous universities, and to share the most advanced educational resources as well. MOOC has already arouse public attention in China, some scholars believe that it will gradually change the form of our traditional higher education. It may solve the facing problem in China, like the declining quality of education, the scarcity of educational resources and the rise of education costs. Other scholars believe that MOOC is just an upgrade of the earlier online education, will be short-lived, and can barely have a major impact on higher education in China. Therefore, researching on MOOC deeply, understanding the current situation and characteristics of MOOC, to analyze its influence of China’s higher education, has great practical significance.This paper introduces and analyzes the rise and situation of MOOC, explains the concept of MOOC from the education and management science perspective, and analyzes the characteristics after comparing with our traditional higher education. Then, through the way of comparing with the traditional philosophy of education, education institutional analysis and perspective of curriculum theory, the paper explains the challenges to our traditional higher education from MOOC; through the three aspects including teaching model, students and teachers, the paper explores the change and influence what MOOC has brought already. The author has registered and studied on Coursera, with the learning experiences and feelings, as well as the main influence MOOC aspects, the paper concludes what countermeasures our higher education should make under the background of MOOC. This paper is divided into six main parts:Part I: background, raised the research background and significance of this subject.Part II: inducing the research status at home and abroad on MOOC, selecting representative research to support and pave the way for below, to avoid duplication.Part III: introduce the related concepts of MOOC, including MOOC concept and design concept, the distinction of online education before, compare MOOC with our traditional higher education, and analyze its new features: openness, equality, large-scale, personalized, democratic and inclusive.Part IV: indicates the challenges our traditional higher education faced from MOOC’s coming, discusses separately from the educational philosophy, education system and curriculum theory. In terms of educational philosophy, combined with the widely used three concepts of higher education, analyze the challenges MOOC brings to these ideas; secondly, MOOC influences the traditional higher education system, mainly shows from: challenge to the university system now, the influence on the existing educational paradigm, as well as better interpretation of the value orientation of the curriculum. All of these can lead our higher education system self-correcting.Part V: From the perspective of teaching model, teachers and students, exploring the influence of MOOC, discussing the future development and trend of MOOC and our traditional higher education, proposing the traditional higher education can not be replaced, they both will be complementary and integration in the development. Then, concluding the countermeasure to deal with MOOC and our traditional higher education.Part VI: Conclusion. Summarize the content of this paper, the results and deficiencies of this research. |
