| It has been long debated whether English grammar should be taught or how it should be taught to reconcile the accuracy with communicative competence of the English language. This thesis combines the task-based teaching and English grammar teaching to advocate task-based grammar teaching. In order to test the effectiveness of task-based grammar teaching, the author carries out a teaching research on grammar, analyzes the advantages of task-based grammar teaching and verifies the implementation of task-based grammar teaching in English.First, the author reviews the related study of the concepts, development, task designing principles, the theoretical basis, and the teaching model of the English grammar teaching, the task-based language teaching approach and the task-based grammar teaching. Next, the author carries out the research to the students of two classes in Grade Three, Primary School. One class is called the controlled group, and the other the tested group. With the same periods, teaching contents, and teaching plans, the controlled group is taught with the grammar-translated method, while the tested group with the task-based grammar teaching approach(Willis? model). Then, the author carries out a test to the two groups with the same test paper and analyzes the data. The result shows that task-based grammar teaching model can improve the overall level of students? proficiency, and can improve their interest in grammar learning as well. Thus, it is better than the traditional grammar teaching method. Finally, the author puts forward some revelations to the later teaching, task designing principles, the deficiency of this research, and some suggestions of the future research. |
