The students’ education of values is a durable issue of the field of education both in theory and in practice. As a kind of social ideology, values will have an important impact on the development of individuals. The individuals’ assessment of objective things and the activity aims which reflects in reorganization and transformation of the world depend on what kind of values the individuals have. Values play a universal and significant guiding role in the life choices and life development of individuals’. When the students enter junior high school, they also enter the stage of adolescence. Ego consciousness begins to awaken and values gradually form. At this point, it is necessary to guide them with the correct values.In November 2012, at the Eighteenth Party National Congress, the Communist Party of China puts forward the socialist core values to “three advocacies” for the content of the view. This is the latest concise summary of the core values system of socialism. Hu Jintao has pointed out, to "put the core values system of socialism into the whole process of national education." As a middle school moral education curriculum, the junior middle school ideology and morality course has unshirkable responsibility in undertaking the task of putting the socialist core values into national education. Ideology and morality course is the important platform for students to learn socialist core values. The educators should be aware of its importance, and continuously explore the ways of educating students with socialist core values in the ideology and morality course, in order to help students to guide their growth with the correct values.This paper is divided into three parts to discuss the topic:The first part is the summary of the related theories of socialist core values. First of all, from a multidisciplinary perspective, the connotation of value, value outlook and core values are described. Secondly, it is discussed the connotation of the socialist core values. The socialist core values point out that what goals of values’ our country should realize, what value orientation our society should adhere to, and what value criterion the individuals should follow by the concise 24-word. The detailed analysis of the connotation of socialist core values contributes to a better understanding of its spirits and requirements. Finally, the characteristics of the socialist core values are summarized. The socialist core values with the characteristics of sublimity, entirety, openness, nationality and affinity to the people. These features are not available in other values.The second part is mainly about the necessity and feasibility of education in the ideology and morality course. First of all, to promote the development of students’ ideology and morality, to construct a harmonious campus, to resist western ideology penetration and to ensure the prosperity of the cause of socialism successors are the reasons why to cultivate students’ socialist core values in four aspects. Secondly, it is discussed the feasibility of cultivation from the background, opportunities, basis and advantages. Discussion on the necessity and feasibility is of great significance to explore the strategies of education. Only find out why to educate and why can educate, can we more accurately study the strategies of education.In the third part, it is discussed that the strategies of educating students with socialist core values in the ideology and morality course. In the education process, what principles should educators adhere to has an important influence on choosing specific ways of education. The principles can provide guidance suggestions for the selection of ways. So the education strategy is composed of two parts. One is the principle and the other is the way. First of all, it is pointed out that when we educate students with socialist core values, we should adhere to the principles, such as people-oriented, combining theory with practice, positive guidance combining with negative education, combination of system education and diverse permeability. Secondly, it is explored the specific ways of education, such as building the efficient class, having school-based curriculum, choosing effective methods, carrying out practical activities.Middle school students are the future of China. So it is urgent and important to complete the task that making students really accept the socialist core values. So to study on this subject, not only in theory, but also should be actively explored in practice. So that the students can really put the socialist core values internalized and reveal it in action.
