| One of the main disabilities of children with autism is the social skill deficit. To improve this situation, people have developed various methods to intervene social skills of children with autism from many different perspective, such as theory of mind, social story,computer-assisted technology and so on.IPad has been widely used in special education, plenty of i Pad apps have been developed for children with autism. And the author start to pay attention to that if i Pad apps canbe used in the intervention for children with autism. The author gets acquaintance to two children with autism who like i Pad very much. One of the subjects received linguistic therapy deliver by i Pad apps, which proved to be a great success. Both of them have received intervention based on applied behavior analysis and shows little generalization consequence. Therefore their parents look forward to a more natural intervention. Pivotal response training is an intervention developed for children with autism. The other behavior will have some collateral changes by training pivotal behavior. Pivotal response training is a natural training method. So the author integrated i Pad apps and pivotal response training to teach the social skills of two subjects and explored the methods of this kind of teaching design. There were three questions to explore:1. Is it feasible to apply i Pad apps combined with pivotal response training? What are the teaching programs of i Pad apps combined with pivotal response training ?2. The teaching effects of social skills of the program;3. To generate some methods, with which this kind of teaching can apply.A single-subject experimental design of multiple probes across subjects was used in this study. The independent variable was i Pad apps combined with pivotal response training. The dependent variable of this study were social skills of children with autism, including initiated behaviors and prolonged interactions with the researcher. The results of this study are as follows: 1. It was feasible to apply i Pad apps combined with pivotal response training on teaching social skills to children with autism; 2.After the intervention, both children with autism maintained prolonged interactions with the researcher, initiated play and conversations; 3.Generating some key factors of this kind of teaching design; 4.The choosing methods of i Pad apps. |
