Study On Group Work To Improve The Mental Health Of Migrant Children

With the rapid development of economy of our country, the speeding up ofurbanization and the advancements of social progress, a large number of rural surpluslabor into the cities, a special group which called “migrant children” is produced in theprocess of this change. As the growth rate of migrant children is faster and faster, theproblem of migrant children have gradually entered the vision of the community,whichattracted more and more people’s attention, and become the focus question which areconcerned by government,academic, and society. These “floating flowers”followingtheir parents into the city, becaues of facing some problems and pressures in their life,their mental health will inevitably be affected.This paper focused on the mental health of migrant children, selected some pupilsfrom Day-care classes who are in Third grade from X School as service object, used groupsocial work methods, based on the actual needs of service object and the key factors ofgroup social work,introduced and analysed the six group activities.According to the observation records and the process assessment,followingconclusions can be drawn from this study: Firstly,group social work made a positive affecton the mental health of migrant children,the mental health of migrant children arepromoted by group social work.Secondly,the method of group social work can be a veryeffective method to improve the mental health of migrant children.
