With the trend of peasant-workers’family mobility, Shenzhen as a city ofimmigrants, there are a large number of floating population in its underdevelopedregions. Migrant children’s social adaptation issues are also increasingly prominent.Children of floating population, as a special social group, they will eventuallyintegrate into urban society. Social adaptation plays a very important role for theirpersonal development and social harmony.However, the researches on the adaptabilityof floating population’s children in underdeveloped area of developed city are rare.Therefore, an in-depth study of migrant children’s social adaptability in Shenzhen’sless developed regions is necessary.And the educational measures which are putforward according to this situation have important practical significances.In this paper, psychological measurement method, questionnaire survey and fieldinterviews are taken to do a systematic study SocialAdaptability of Migrantchildren in Underdeveloped Area of Shenzhen City. The study includes:(1) themigrant children’s social adaptability Survey in Shenzhen’s less developed regions---especially in Guangming district of Shenzhen city;(2)the study of relevant factorsinfluencing social adaptability of floating population’s children in underdevelopedarea of Shenzhen city;(3) the comparison of social adaptability between urbanchildren and migrant children;(4)the measures to promote the social adaptability offloating population’s children in underdeveloped area of Shenzhen city.In the paper, the following conclusions are made.(1)The current social adaptability of migrant children in underdeveloped area of Shenzhen city is poor.(2) The social adaptability of migrant children in underdeveloped area of Shenzhen city is related to their parents’ educational backgrounds, the child’s sex and age and the time they havelived in the city.(3)The social adaptability of migrant children in underdevelopedarea of Shenzhen city is closely related to parenting way, personality and self-esteem.(4) The study shows that the social adaptability of migrant children and the factorswhich infect it are different from urban children’s. Measures which can promote thesocial adaptability of migrant children in underdeveloped area of Shenzhen city arepresented in the paper.
