ObjectiveThe research aimed to understand the status of school age children’ socialwithdrawal and the feature of parental locus of control, to investigate therelationship between social withdrawal and parental locus of control and buildmodels. It will provide the basis for drafting the interventions of primary socialwithdrawal behavior problems.MethodsAs the research object school-age children and the parents, in jinzhou,adopting the cluster random sampling, we extract primary school as object from1to6grade in linghe, guta and taihe region in Jinzhou. Using the AchenbachChild Behavior (CBCL)(for parents) which is Standardization of Chinese versionand Parenting Locus of Control Scale (PLOC), a total of835parents of schoolage children in Jin Zhou were enrolled. SPSS13.0was used to analyze the datacollected from the returned scales by Descriptive analysis, t-test,χ2-test,one-way analysis of variance, Pearson correlation analysis and multiplestepwise regression analysis etc.Results1.The percentage of school age children’ social withdrawal was17.01%.And the percentage of primary girls’ social withdrawal was17.58%, it is higherthan boys’ which was16.43%(χ2=4.65,P<0.05); The percentage of school agechildren’ social withdrawal from1to6grade were11.19%、12.14%、11.11%、 16.29%、30.00%、21.92%and the differences had statistically significant(χ2=25.35,P<0.01); The percentage of school age children’ socialwithdrawal from one-children family was18.69%, and it is higher than otherswhich is9.33%(χ2=7.24,P<0.01); The percentage of school age children’social withdrawal from divorced family was37.04%and it is higher than otherswhich is16.34%(χ2=8.07,P<0.01); The percentage of school age children’social withdrawal which their fathers’ degrees of education were primary schoolor middle school or senior high school or university or master were divided into20.86%、16.28%、16.47%、12.82%、0.00%and the differences had statisticallysignificant (χ2=19.74,P<0.01); The percentage of school age children’ socialwithdrawal which their mothers’ degrees of education were primary school ormiddle school or senior high school or university or master were divided into22.23%、17.95%、7.23%、8.57%、0.00%and the differences had statisticallysignificant (χ2=21.83,P<0.01).2.Parental locus of control were statistically significant difference in gender,grade, divorced, degree of parents’ education(P﹤0.05). There were nodifference in one-children family or not (P>0.05).3.The scores of parental locus of control was correlated with the scores ofthe behavior Withdrawal (r=0.26,P<0.01)and the scores of the behaviorWithdrawal had was a positive correlated with the effect of education(r=0.15,P<0.01), Parents liability(r=0.13,P<0.01), children’s control of theirparents’ lives (r=0.21,P<0.01), parents’ belief of fate/opportunities(r=0.08,P<0.05), parents’ control of their children’s behaviors(r=0.14,P<0.01).4.Gender, grade, the one-children family, divorced and the effect ofeducation, Parents liability, parents’ control of their children’s behaviors,children’s control of their parents’ lives can effectively predict school agechildren’ Social Withdrawal. The variables above can explain the16.7%ofsocial withdrawal. Conclusions1.The percentage of school age children’ social withdrawal was high in girls,senior class, one-children family, divorced, the lower degree of parents’education. Students above should give full attention to their psychologicalbehavior and development process, prevented the behavior problems.2.The levels of parental locus of control were higher in boys, senior class,divorced, the lower degree of parents’ education. They showed the character ofexternal control. When the external control parents were going on educationstrategy instruction for their children’s, they should consider the characteristicsof different individuals and take different measures.3.The higher the levels of parental locus of control were, the strongerexternal control was, the higher probability children formed social withdrawal.Improving the parents attitude toward education was one of the importantmeasures to promote student mental health, establish and form healthybehaviors.
