In the era of rapid development of modern information technology, the reading needs of students increases, showing variety of characteristics.Based on the significance to students’ language extracurricular reading cognitive ability,the ability to practice the language and cultural skills, develop critical thinking skills.Therefore, the central theme of the paper, based on the status survey of upper primary students to extracurricular reading,Further analysis of the students look forward to reading, reading and reading the contents of the characteristics of critical reflection, in order to improve the reading ability of proposed ideas and measures.Based on the literature of the study,using the method of empirical research papers conducted a questionnaire survey and interviews.Paper is divided into five parts:The first part is an introduction,the main reason to explain the problem of the study,research, research ideas and methods,research value and limitations.The second part is about the upper primary students’ overview of the contents of extracurricular reading,explained the concepts,review of existing studies and extracurricular reading significance;The third part from two angles of a primary school in Jinhua City elementary school to investigate high school students’ extracurricular reading status, analyze the main extracurricular reading values, reading content,curricular extracurricular reading way and extracurricular reading influencing, and summarizes the characteristics and problems of upper primary students extracurricular reading. Understanding students’ extracurricular reading status to analysis is the basis of its evaluation,based on the importance of critical thinking of students in extracurricular reading process, students’ reading expectations,reading and reading critically reflect on the type of content were summarized in the fourth part, And proposed social environmental factors, concepts, capabilities, mindset, peers and teachers, home literacy environment is to develop students’ reading expectations, reading reflection and critique reading ability factors. Based on the above findings, the fifth part from students correct reading concepts to enhance students’ independent reading ability,critical reflection teacher-training and create a democratic and equitable reading atmosphere in four areas proposed to enhance students’ reading expectations,reading and reading ability to critically reflect on countermeasures.
