Community education, as an important way to "build lifelong education systemand learning society", has received widespread attention from lots of countries.Although ideological and political education of our country’s community has achievedgood results, there are still some problems in the development process. They areparticularly highlighted in the following aspects: lack of understanding, fuzzy concept,unsmooth management system, inadequate funding, weak faculty construction,unspecific education content. The existence of these problems has restricted thedevelopment of China’s ideological and political education of community. We canunderstand the nature of the problems and grasp the law by comparative study. Throughthe diachronic longitudinal investigation and synchronic lateral research, we can notonly form a dialogue habits between the history and the world, but also improve theprofessional quality of ideological and political education of community to reach therealm of knowledge conjunction. By explaining the community and its related conceptsas well as analyzing and comparing the historical evolution and current status of theideological and political education of Chinese and American communities, we find theproblems in the development process of the ideological and political education ofChinese and American communities. We multi-dimensionally analyze the differencesbetween the ideological and political education of Chinese and American communities,highlight the "REASON" of writing this article. By comparing the ideological andpolitical education of Chinese and American communities comprehensively from itscontent, carrier, implementation methods, we can grasp the nature and laws.and therebyclarify the significance of comparing the ideological and political education of Chineseand American communities. We take Buckhead Community, Atlanta, U.S. as anexample to analyze how the Buckhead Community carries out the work of ideologicaland political education. We intuitively analyze the experience of effectively carrying outideological and political education work in American community and draw aninspiration. So, we can bring forth new ideas for the major aspects, such as ideas,mechanism, resource integration and organizational carrier of the ideological andpolitical education of Chinese community, and thereby solve some problems generatedduring the practice process to promote rapid, healthy development of the ideologicaland political education of community.
