Study On The Social Work Intervention Of Urban Adaptation Of Migrant Children

China’s population movement is increasing in size and changing from the initialsingle flow into the family flow Since the1990s. With this change，the emergence of anew vulnerable group is noticeable. They are the migrant children. Children’s mentalis not yet mature，and limited social experience，and an unfamiliar environment，oftenprone to maladaptive.In this context，this study hopes that through the use ofprofessional social work concepts and techniques，we can explore concrete ways andmeans from practical activities to enhance the adaptability of migrant children incities. In practical activities，this study tries to test the feasibility and effectiveness ofrelevant theories and ideas，thus forming a relatively complete set of social workprofessional program.This study served32migrant children at a public elementary school in Chang pingDistrict， Beijing City. Through questionnaires， interviews and literature， weunderstanding of the basic situation of the children at an early stage.This study usedthe social learning theory and Group dynamics theory.The name of the projectis”sharing the sunshine”and used the model of development group. The project has6social workers and the32migrant children had been divided into5groups. Thisactivity consist of4parts，they are the part one”know yourself”，the part two “we arefriends”，the part three “I love my family”，the part four “I love this city”.Activitieshelp the migrant children to build self-confidence and strengthen interpersonal skills，thereby increasing the city’s identity of the migrant children，thus achieving thepurpose of enhancing the adaptation ability of these children. At the end of the studystage，we analyzed the conclusion and assessed the scheme Through the studyactivities，the status of the migrant children has been proven to be improved.This project proved that the use of social work methods especially group workhave the advantages of form and content.To solve the problem of migrant childrenprovides a new Train of thought，and proves use of social work methods promote themigrant children in adapting the urban life is feasible.
