Social Work Intervention Studies Of Migrant Children In Urban Adaptation

China has been under dramatic changes with fast urbanization and industrialization in light of the reform and opening up. And thus more and more people poured into cities carrying out their children who were going to live in and study in the cities.Since 1990s,children have flooded into cities so that they have to face a new culture,new regulations and a new community on the condition that they are of young age,insufficient experience and weak adaptability. That may result many problems.Children are at the critical moment of physical and mental development, and also at the key stage of socialization,so whether children are able to adapt to urban life concerns with their development and social stability. With the method of theories of social work,professional skills and methods,this paper will promote the children's adaptability of urban life so as to improve the self-development and growth of floating children. Meanwhile, explore new methods and channels for the children's adaptability of urban life, expanding the specific areas of social work and also boosting innovation and development of the local social work.Based on amounts of researches and studies of other experts,this paper takes the urban migrant children of F Community under the M Institution as objects, and studies on the existing problems of the urban migrant children's adaptability of urban life through the method of literature research method, participant observation,questionnaire survey and interviews. It finds out that from the perspective of cognitive psychology,the urban migrant children have low self-esteem and have difficulty in emotion cognitive; from the aspect of social interaction, there are conflicts between parents and children and shortages in peer relationships; low sense of identity with the city. Under the guidance of ecological system theory, this paper makes an analysis on reasons for difficulties of children's city adaptability from the level of family,school,and community, so as to better their living environment and improve their development. On the basis of the analysis on the professional advantages of social work, this paper mainly uses professional methods and skills of group work to study on children's urban adaptability. And then six growing activities will be carried out to get promotion on their specific problems, after that, assessments will be given aimed at the process and the consequence through out the activities. Through the assessments, they show that there is an improvement on their cognitive level, social interaction and sense of belonging to the city. That is to say, the urban migrant children's urban adaptability has been enhanced. This research provides references for intervention model of social work to explore the urban adaptability of the urban migrant children, expands the practicing areas of social work and advances the localization of social work.
