Work adaptation is of primary concern to new teachers when they start their teaching profession. It’s a most significant and crucial stage in their professional development for them to successfully realize two transitions—from the role of student to that of teacher and from theoretical knowledge to practical work capacity. The case of specially contracted art teachers, a "new group", is slightly different from that of teachers who enter into the profession and gain a government staff status by taking government staffing examinations. The contract of three years brings greater uncertainty to new specially contracted teachers than new permanent teachers. The level of adaptation for the initial period of the new job position has significant influence on whether they could stay in the school and make contributions for education in rural areas.This thesis mainly is divided into three parts to illustrate the topic. The first part introduces the background of teachers, the selection process and the faculty to adapt to the field The second part through the survey statistics and induction, from the job adaptation, interpersonal adaptation and living environment three aspects "reproduction" of fine arts teaching to adapt to the current situation in the first part introduces the background of teachers, the selection process and teaching adapt to the field. Statistical results found that most of the fine arts teachers can successful complete the teaching task, but there are also many problems. Rural traditional exam-oriented education thoughts on fine arts education "indifference". Rural area economic backwardness leads directly to the poor working and living conditions. Art teachers have abundant teaching theory, but the lack of teaching experience and can not meet the expected target class, these problems are especially teachers of fine arts in the teaching to adapt to the cause of the problems. In addition, based on the results of comparison and induction, summarizes six faculty group differences, including:Gender differences, regional differences, the motivation, pre-service training experience, degree of orientation and post-career training differences and differences in full-time teachers and part-time teachers. The third part concludes from many factors, which affect the teaching adaption include professional ideal, pre-service training, after training and working and living conditions of four factors.Based on theories on teacher’s professional development and adaptation, this paper has conducted surveys on adaptation capacity of specially contracted art teachers in elementary and secondary schools in Jilin province, which include natural conditions, pre-service training, profession adaptation, adaptation in work relations, life adaptation and in-service training. The research is conducted mainly through the method of surveying70chosen specially contracted art teachers of elementary and secondary schools in Jilin province and some supplementary talks with them. Among the70papers being sent out,68survey papers are retrieved and66are identified as valid after weeding out the invalid and incomplete ones, making a recover rate of94.2%. Statistics are carried out with the usage of Excel calculating method. After careful analysis of the surveys and researches, this paper gets a general idea about current situations of the profession adaptation of new specially contracted art teachers and elements that affect it, provides new insights and methods which can be used as practical guidance for contracted art teachers to overcome the difficulties of adaptation and promotes their professional development and teaching methods.
