In recent years, with the rapid development of mass culture, things like pop songs,variety shows and soap operas have made great impacts on students in junior middleschools. With a distinctive musical characteristic,“Chinese-style” pop music is verypopular among students in junior middle schools and significantly affects their linguisticculture. As part of mass culture,“Chinese-style” pop music is inevitably commercialand tacky, thus bringing certain negative impacts on the linguistic culture amongstudents in junior high schools. But meanwhile, with its literariness and nationality,“Chinese-style” lyrics can also enhance their accumulation of speech and aestheticappreciation, impact their linguistic values and behaviors, and guide them in inheritingthe traditional national culture. Schools and teachers should take correct attitudestoward the influence of “Chinese-style” lyrics on the linguistic culture among studentsin junior middle schools, and give appropriate guidance to students in junior middleschools as to the establishment of linguistic culture by “taking the essence anddiscarding the dregs”, so as to promote students’ comprehensive development.This paper is starts from an objective analysis on the lyrics of “Chinese-style” popmusic. Survey the impacts on the linguistic culture among students in five junior middleschools of Changzhi in Shanxi Province are researched by adopting methods such asquestionnaire surveys and field investigations. From the perspectives of linguisticfeatures and cultural characteristics analyze the features of the lyrics. And effectiveways to strengthen the establishment of linguistic culture under this impact amongstudents in junior middle schools are put forward.Focusing on the influence of lyrics of “Chinese-style” pop music on the linguisticculture among students in junior middle schools, this paper is divided into six parts. Thefirst part-the introduction-mainly expounds the presentation of subject and relatedconcepts, summarizes the corresponding literatures, and explains the significance aswell as the methods and the general idea in this research. In the second part, based onthe results of questionnaire surveys and interview surveys, the reasons why“Chinese-style” pop music popular among students in junior middle schools and their linguistic applications of the lyrics of these songs are analyzed and summarized. Thethird part is an analysis on the lyrics of “Chinese-style” pop music from the perspectivesof linguistic features and cultural characteristics. The fourth part analyzes andsummarizes both the positive and negative impacts of “Chinese-style” lyrics on thelinguistic culture among students in junior middle schools. The fifth part puts forward aseries of countermeasures against the actual impact of “Chinese-style” lyrics on thelinguistic culture among students in junior high schools. The sixth part is the conclusion,which mainly summarizes the research in this paper and analyzes the innovative anddefective aspects of it.
