With the development of informationrzation of education, the traditional caching method of blackboard and chalk cannot meet the needs of modern education. In the field of education, PPT is widely used in English teaching and It brings English class new vigor and has gradually replaced the traditional form. A large number of advantages from PPT can be discovered, for instance, it provides a better environment to stimulate students’interest and enthusiasm and cultivate students’language ability and creative spirit. With the support of CALL and multimedia technologies, the conception of integrating information technologies and English teaching are deepening, therefore, there is no doubt to pay attention to apply PPT in English teaching.The author takes the case of Yuren Junior School in Shanghai and collects the English PPT in the school. Then, the writer classifies and analyzes the features and content of PPT. Next, the writer conducts the research through questionnaires, interviews and classroom observation. In the research, the writer will find out the answers to the questions as follows:1. What is the status of application of PPT in junior high school?2. What are the characteristics of PPT?3. What are the problems of the application of PPT?4. What implications and suggestions can be put forward to improve the application of PPT to make English classroom instruction more effective? Under the guidance of theories of input and Constructive Learning Theory, the author makes the data analysis according to the three aspects of teachers, students and class. According to the findings and analysis, certain implications and suggestions of the design and application of PPT can be put forward to make English classroom teaching more effective:Teachers should make good preparations for lessons. They should make realize the different modes of PPT and apply them properly in designing PPT. They should pay attention to their application of PPT, students’performance and class atmosphere in English teaching.
