Graduate Cultivating the postgraduate students’ scientific research ability, is theembodiment of the nature of postgraduate education, is the common practice of postgraduateeducation at home and abroad, is the key of improving the quality of postgraduate education,and is the need of construction of national innovation system. With the gradual improvementof postgraduate educational condition in our country, the postgraduate educational quality isincreased obviously. Accordingly, the postgraduate students’ scientific research ability hasgreat progress. Henan University is one of the earliest universities that established thepostgraduate education, and the largest master’s degree authorization centers and the numberof postgraduates. The history of its postgraduate education has40years, but in the process ofpostgraduate education, there are till some problems that the postgraduate students’ scientificresearch ability of Henan University should be improved from the allover.This thesis mainly analyzes the postgraduate students of Henan University’s scientificresearch ability. In accordance with the main line that " research topics and research statusâ†'investigation and analysis of development present situation of the research contentâ†'analysis of related typical casesâ†'countermeasures and suggestionsâ†'conclusion", thethesis focuses on the investigation and analysis of present situation of the research content.First of all, using the method of literature, this thesis combs the domestic and foreignresearch present situation and theoretical basis of research, and defines the scientific researchability, the manifestation of postgraduate student’ scientific research ability and thesignificance of improving the postgraduate students’ scientific research ability.Secondly, using the method of questionnaire survey and the method of statistical analysis,this thesis investigates and statistical analyzes the postgraduate students of2012’s basicsituation from25educational units in Henan University. The main survey includes thestudents’ gender, profession, basic information before admission (it includes educationbackground, graduate school, profession and work experience, etc.), and participating inresearch projects during the postgraduate learning, publishing scientific researchachievements, literary and artistic works and invention patent, etc. This thesis concludes theoverall performance of the postgraduate students of Henan University. The postgraduate students’ scientific research ability exists differences between different disciplines. Thenumber of articles that are published by no work experience students is higher than that bystudents with work experience. The number of articles that are published by graduated fromHenan University students is higher than that by not graduated from Henan Universitystudents. The number of articles that are published by students that want to get a doctor’sdegree is higher than that by students that do not want to get a doctor’s degree. The number ofarticles that are published by students that were in this major is higher than that by studentsthat were not in this major. Gender has a little effects on the students’ scientific researchability. Education background also has a little effects on the students’ scientific researchability. And student-faculty ratios have biggish effects on the students’ scientific researchability.On this basis, this thesis analyzes the main problems of the postgraduate students’scientific research ability, including students often collect the data and analyze the data whenthey participate in scientific research projects, the different condition of scientific researchresources make a quite different students’ scientific research ability between differentcolleges, the supervisors are lack of guidance for their postgraduate students and thepostgraduate students’ training and incentive systems of the university are not perfect.Moreover, using the method of case analysis, this thesis introduces and analyzes thetypical universities at home and abroad that are good at training the postgraduate students’scientific research ability, and summarizes their experience in training. It provides referencesfor Henan University to conclude the training rules that meet the needs of its owndevelopment and the methods of its own characteristics.Finally, using the method of analyzing and inducting, this thesis combines with the actualsituation of training the postgraduate students in Henan University and the analysis of theinfluence factors of postgraduate students’ scientific research ability, and puts forward severalcountermeasures and suggestions that can improve the postgraduate students’ scientificresearch ability of Henan University from three aspects mainly of establishingmultidisciplinary research training mode, paying attention to the scientific research practiceactivities and giving full play to the tutors’ guiding role. It provides references for thepostgraduate student’s training in Henan University.
