In February 1940, Mao Tse-tung’s “New democratic politics and new-democratic culture”, known as the " New Democracy" was published on the first issue of "Chinese culture" in Yenan. From April 23 to June 11, 1945, Communist Party of China held the Seventh National Congress in Yenan, in which Mao Zedong made the political report, "On Coalition Government". On May 2, the full text of it was published in "Liberation Daily", the newspaper. In both articles which are important components of Mao Zedong Thought, Mao profoundly summed up the experience of the Chinese revolution and systematically expatiated the theory of New Democracy, pointing out the direction of the Chinese revolution. After the founding of the RPC, Mao Zedong personally modifying and finalizing it, "Selected Works of Mao Zedong," volume1-4, was published by the People’s Publishing House, respectively in October 1951, March 1952, February 1953, September 1960. "New Democracy" and "On Coalition Government" are included separately in the second and third volumes. Mao made drastic improvements in the articles in their statement logic, rhetoric and punctuation segments. This thesis focuses on expounding the changes in Mao Tse-tung’s ideas and their causes when he was modifying the two articles by comparing and contrasting the two versions of them, the initial public version, "New Democracy New Democracy and Political Culture" issued in the "Chinese Culture" and the "Theory Coalition Government" in "Liberation Daily", and the modified versions which are the "New Democracy" published in 1952 and "On coalition Government different" in 1953, combining the them with the historic background and locating the changes in their content. The first part is a comparison on "New Democracy" between the "1952 Edition" and the "Chinese Culture Version", based on the order of paragraphs in the former. The first step is to overview the modification as a whole because of the fact that Mao Zedongmade up to about 817 alterations in "New Democracy", among which a total of about 50 fundamental changes in viewpoints and the content of the theory. And then the details in changes of each part is to be focalized on.The second part compares the "Liberation Daily version" and the "1953 Edition" of "On Coalition Government". On the whole, the number of words in the "1953 Edition" is reduced from about 60,000 words to only 50,000 words, a decrease of about 23.5%.After 1945, Mao Zedong, modified the article particularly in such aspects as the state, the government, military and other problems with some paragraphs abridged. There are ever more abridgements in the International Situation and Foreign Relations. The third part, specifically addresses how these changes reflect the thinking of Mao Zedong combining the then background to discuss the reasons for the changes from international and national, subjective and objective point of view. To sum up, causes are as follows. The first and decisive reason for the change in Mao Tse-tung Thought is the constant advancing in the Chinese practice of building new democratic revolution.Second, the key to the change is the improvement in the status of the Chinese Communist Party in China. Third, Changes in the postwar world pattern is an important reason for the change. Fourth, the nature of the state, national conditions and needs of the economic development composes its objective factors. The last but not the least, the traditional ideology of hard-working and self-reliance of Chinese people as well promotes the great changes in Mao Tse-tung Thought.
