Study On Intervention Of Social Work For Rescuing Street Children

With the development of economy of China, many social problems has been caused. Among all those problems, the problem of street children became the one which cannot be ignored. With the further advance of urbanization, China must deal with the problem of street chidren as soon as possible to become a harmonious, democratic and civilized country. Generally speaking, the reason which caused the problem of street children cannot be single, personality, family, friends, school, community and society are all the reasons which can cause the problem of street children. Currently, many experts at home and abroad has made a lot of researches on the problem of street children as well as got some achievements, however, most of those researches are focused on the theory while a little are focused on the practice. Thus, lack of practice made assistance mode and assistance policy couldn’t be carried out successfully.This thesis will use documentary method, case study and interviewing method to analyse the intervention of social work in the salvation of street children by case study. In the background of a case study, this thesis will try to improve the situation of street chidren through researches of reasons, characteristics of street chidren and the difficulties of salvation. Therefore, we can help to carry out the policy of welfare and rights of street children through advice for rescuing street children. Meanwhile, this thesis will use professional means of social work through the analysis of reasons and characteristics of street children to carry out case work, besides, this thesis will try to change the traditional assistance mode and try to meet the real needs of street children based on the idea of people first. What’s more, social workers will help street children to rebuilt their value and also help them to gain power to come back to the society.Finally, in the process of intervention, social worker used semi-structured interview, theory of person in situation and theory of strengths perspective to lead clients to rebuilt their healthy mentality and persuade them to end vagabondage and come back to the society. Meanwhile, this thesis put forwards some innovative advice for the intervention of social work. First of all, letting street children who need be helped by social worker stay in rescue station longer.Then, promoting the specialization level of social worker to intervening rescue of street children. Besides, social worker should pay more attention to the street children’s family situation. What’s more, advocating social workers to pay a return visit to their clients. Finally, social workers should integrate all the resources to rescue street children.
