The Research On Environmental Protection Of Lancang-Mekong River

Mekong River is the sixth longest river of the word, the third of the Asia and the number one of Southeast Asia. It flows through China, Myanmar, Laos, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, so it is an international river which goes through so many countries in the area of Asia. The main trunk of it lasts 4909 KM. Because of going through so long, it has been called different in each country. In the part of China, we called it Lancang River. But in the international community, it was accepted named Mekong River. With the environmental issue becoming so clearly, especially we got the extensive concerns about our environmental issue. Meantime the importance of environmental diplomacy had been enhanced and so does the author, also put the attention on it---concerns of this watershed. In 1995, the down part of it established a common commission of Mekong River, regrettably, we were still not part of it. As a responsible powerful country, as well as the original part of it, the author had taken a deepest investigation of all long the river based on the concept of pursuing the national interest.
