During the liberation-war period, the left-leaning and right-leaning errors have occurred during the agrarian movement in varying degrees, especially after the issue of An Outline of Land Laws, which raised the “Three Waves” and expanded attacking targets. After Xi Zhongxun’s resolute decision to report to the leadership and Mao Tse-tung’s great efforts to correct the errors, the Party Central Committee and local government braked in time and twisted the left-leaning errors towards landlords entirely. In terms of this delicate and complex correcting history, this paper tries to study it from the following several aspects.First is the introduction part, which aims to explain the topic selection background and research significance. Moreover, it includes the research review and innovative ideas, train of thoughts as well as the research methods. The first chapter is about the policy fault of the reason why the landlord policy went deviated during the agrarian movement. Through the analysis that the academic lays more emphasis on value evaluation of two land reform files than the analysis of background, this paper finds out that the essence of the four-year agrarian movement during the liberation-war period is a positive and negative movement trend. Moreover, it reflects the non-initiative of central government’s land reform and the fundamental objective of the agrarian movement. The second chapter is the concrete manifestation. It aims to analyze the turning point significance of Instruction on May 4th and An Outline of Land Laws on the agrarian movement, also, the trouble brought to the grass-roots after the issue of these two files. In particular, under the influence of the left-leaning ideological line, the bloody land reform became violent and uncontrollable. The third chapter is the measures to correct. In spite of its difficulty to control, Mao Tse-tung decided to lead the whole party to correct the errors thoroughly from four aspects: class attribute, human rights regime, economic activity, land reform process. The fourth chapter is the main reason that the errors can be corrected. In the beginning of 1948, Xi Zhongxun and Mao Tse-tung had four historical interactive meetings, which provided valuable grass-roots experience for the correction movement. This chapter aims to manifest the foresight and unique contributions of the two central and local first-front leaders in the land reform. Meanwhile, it aims to use historical facts to criticize the historical nihilism in the current unofficial discourse and partial attack towards Mao Tse-tung and the agrarian movement on the Internet. The fifth chapter is summary of experience and realistic enlightenment, which is also the foothold of this paper. Through the exploration and analysis of the gain and loss, experience and lesson in the agrarian movement of the liberation-war period, it intends to provide decision reference and political enlightenment for the overall establishment of well-off society and realization of Chinese dream.
