Investigation On The Current Situation Of Pension Demand And Service Of The Elderly In The Community Of City Spirit

Nowadays people’s material conditions are improving with the rapid growth of economy. As the aging of population is accelerating and the absolute number of senior citizens is continuously increasing in China, the demand of the elderly in urban areas for material services has gained wide public concern, their spiritual needs, however, has not drawn adequate attention. Therefore psychological care of senior urban citizens,among all aging services, has become a problem that cannot be ignored.Meanwhile, communities, as major places for gathering and activities of the elderly, are the most important arenas for providing aging psychological care services after their families. Therefore, every community should give full play to its advantages and provide a solid platform for those services. Based on the survey research regarding the needs for psychological care services of senior citizens in Wuxi Qinxin Community, this essay generally classifies those needs into several categories:safety and security, emotions and communications, culture and entertainment, learning and knowing the society, and self-actualization. According to the survey results, an overwhelming part of the elderly interviewed are not satisfactory with the psychological care services in their community, and many issues remain unsolved, causing the situation that their spiritual needs cannot be fulfilled through current psychological care services. In the survey research, the author has drawn uponsuccessful foreign experience on the basis of which this article will give relevant measures and suggestions on improving psychological care services in urban communities. Final results showed that:the elderly family structure, economic and psychological factors that affect the spiritual quality of life of older persons; different income and physical condition of the elderly, will affect the different security needs; different elderly gender and personality will affect to the emotional and interpersonal and entertainment needs of different cultures; older age levels or lower by the higher level of education, learning and knowing the needs of society as well as higher self-realization.
