Qiang nationality, a small nation with a population of only300,000, is the "living fossil" of Chinese civilization."Qiang" is the only character about ethnic title in oracle bone inscriptions of Shang Dynasty, which is also the earliest literary inscription of human title. In the long historical development process, Qiang nationality has maintained its unique religious faith of polytheistic worship, in which the sheep totem, Shiroishi and fire worship are common.In the religious faith of Qiang nationality, there is an indispensable role——"Shibi", who is the most authoritative cultured man and spiritual leader of Qiang nationality and respected as the people that can connect the world of life and death and divinity world. Shibi is indispensable in all major activities from sacrifice to marriage and housing and from exorcism and healing to death. Qiang people believe in the animism and worship dozens of gods, which are divided into natural worship, totem worship and ancestor worship. Undoubtedly, Shibi also shoulders the most important mission in the inheritance of Qiang’s polytheistic worship.2008was an important turning point for Qiang nationality because5·12WenChuan Earthquake has brought a great blow to the inheritance of Qiang culture, such as missing of massive scriptures and books, death of several highly respected Shibi...However, in the post-disaster reconstruction, the state has directly promoted an unprecedented evolution of Qiang culture with strong mobilization and organization capacity and aboral aid system. If the polytheistic worship of Qiang nationality in the past is of slow development and inheritance, belonging to the natural evolution of culture, this evolution would develop rapidly. What affects the cultural changes of polytheistic worship of Qiang nationality is the diversified social body, such as government and social force, rather than simply Qiang people.I, born in Qiang nationality in Wenchuan, have a deep feeling of the polytheistic worship of Qiang nationality. In the three years of practicing in Xinhua News Agency Sichuan Branch, I have conducted interview and investigation in Qiang minority for many years, witnessing the cultural changes, inheritance and evolution of polytheistic worship of Qiang nationality.
