With the relatively low per capita urban income and even the low retirement income ofthe elderly under the social background of China, the era of the aging of urban population hassuddenly arrived at China. This kind of social status poses a tough challenge for the laggingsocial security system construction at the present stage. As the aging of urban population hasappaered under the background of the relatively poor elderly in China, and especially underthe background of the lagging social security system construction, the author specially selectsthe social security pattern of mutuial support for the aged in the urban communities to studyhow to improve the quality of later life of the urban elderly, to improve the elderly’spsychological well-being, and to effectively avoid the elderly’s psychological loneliness outof care, and the lack of life care, health care services, the entertainment for the aged, as wellas the beggar-thy-neighbor phenomenon among the older neighbourhoods in the urban areas. It can be seen from the preliminary investigation that the pattern of mutual support for theaged is of practical significance and theoretical research value. The urban citizens of Chinahave been pursuing the policy of population, One Couple One Child, in the past40years, oneof the results caused by which is to create a large number of421Families(including four oldpeople, two parents and one child). From a family perspective, the family, with one of or bothof the couple from one-child family, have to face the psychological comfort and life care ofthe elderly whose number is as two to four times as theirs except the regular eight-hour work. This kind of family support pattern can only be described by being powerless. Especiallyunder the background with the relatively poor per capita income and the lack of socialsecurity, as well as low security level in urban areas, it is of practical significance to promotethe mutual support for the aged in the urban communities and popularize the pattern of mutualsupport for the aged. The main research content of this paper can be divided into six parts.
