“Food is the paramount necessity of the people,and safety the premise of food.”Food is such material basis of human survival that its safety concerns people’s qualityof life and health. With the development of market economy, food industry in Chinahas achieved rapid development represented by its wide variety and a leading output.However, a serials of vicious food safety incidents, such as swill-cooked dirty oil;substandard milk powder; tainted steamed buns; clenbuterol, have become seriousthreat to people’s health and safety, even causing overwhelming fear of domestic food.The high frequency of food safety incidents exposed our food enterprises’ lack ofsocial responsibilities, blind pursuit of profit maximization and production costsreduction, as well as ignorance of the implementation of food safety responsibilities.The thesis focus on how to improve the social responsibility system of China’sfood corporations, and how to ensure the implementation of the food safetyresponsibilities. We have reached consensus that enterprises should shoulder socialresponsibilities which have not been fully put into practice. Food enterprises is such aspecial industry closely related to people’s livelihood that its core content of socialresponsibility is food safety responsibility. Enhancing our food corporate socialresponsibility and guaranteeing the implementation of food safety responsibilities arein favor of improving the quality of consumers’ life, promoting the construction of thefood safety system, establishing a good corporate image and enhance their core competitiveness in a long run.The thesis inspected food corporate social responsibility system by means ofempirical analysis, standardization research, comparative study, investigate referencedata, etc. Based on basic theories of the food corporate social responsibility system,the thesis researched on the status quo of development of the food corporate socialresponsibility system, manifestation and reason of default, and table proposals onimprovement of China’s food corporate social responsibility system.This essay consists of4parts:The first part is an introduction to the food corporation social responsibility.Firstly, the basic theory of the corporate social responsibility on the basis of ananalysis of its origin, definition, development and hierarchical structure. Then, theprecise definition of food corporate social responsibility in this context after analyzingthe bear body and definition of the social responsibility of the food corporation. Onthis basis, this part has concluded the characteristics of the food corporate socialresponsibility in China from the following three aspects: the core definition, theconnotation and the extension and primary party at interest.The second part is an empirical study of the operation of the food corporatesocial responsibility system in China. Firstly, it analyzes the practical meaning of theprotection and implementation of food corporate social responsibility in China fromthe influence of it on the consumers, the corporations and the food security. Then itserves an investigation of the status quo of the food social responsibility system inChina from the perspective of the development and implementation of the system inChina.The third part analyzes the phenomena of deficiency of the food corporate socialresponsibility in China and explores its reasons from the following aspects: marketeconomy, government administration, corporations, industry association and theconsumers.The fourth part is the advice to improve the food corporate social responsibilitysystem in China. Firstly, to establish a comprehensive solutions on the basis of thecooperation of the government, corporation and the society; then, to allocate different roles to the government, enterprises and the society in the process of improving thefood corporate social responsibility in China according to their own featuresrespectively.
