Inrecent years, psychological quality of army man has been emphasized in militarypersonnel selection in our country. Ever since the application of Psychological ScreenSystem of Chinese Recruitment used nationwide in2006, this system has effectivelyprevented many disqualified candidates from entering into the army. The development ofPsychological Screen System of Chinese Recruitment was regarded as a milestone ofmilitary personnel selection in our country. However, problems have also been found inpractical application of this screen system. Current version of the system could effectivelypick up excellent soldiers from available candidates, yet, this system is highly limited inminority language communities and remote areas. With the rapid development of economy and improving living standards in Tibetanareas, more and more Tibetan youth actively responded to the call of our nation andenlisted in the army. Tibetan soldiers have become an important component in theconstitution of Chinese army. Therefore, it is imperative to develop Tibetan Version ofPsychological Screen System of Chinese Recruitment, meeting the demand forspecifically screening qualified applicants in Tibetan regions. This study responded to the practical requirement of military psychological evaluation, investigating cognitive abilityand mental health of Tibetan youth of the right age and then developed the Tibetan versionof Psychological Screen System of Chinese Recruitment. The establishment of Tibetanversion screen system was based on literature analysis, psychometric technique and expertevaluation method. The reliability and validity analyses were conducted afterwards andthe normative score and cutting score were also determined. This study combined quantitative and qualitative research methods in the compilationof Tibetan version of Psychological Screen System of Chinese Recruitment. The main work includes:1. Translation and re-translation: We translated the Mandarin version ofPsychological Screen System of Chinese Recruitment into Tibetan, and then, re-translatedthe Tibetan version into Mandarin, to compare with the original version. Seminars wereheld to discuss the completeness, integrity and accuracy of each item in screen system.2. Adjustment to cultural differences: We invited Tibetan language experts, psychologists and psychiatrists to revise the translation, making it fit into Tibetan culture. The comprehensibility of translation was discussed among Tibetan high school students.3. Pre-test and formal test: We randomly chose80Tibetan recruited youth totake the pre-test. The verbal ability items in Chinese Soldier Intelligence Test werere-written according to pre-test results. Meanwhile, items in the Chinese SoldierPersonality Questionnaire were revised one by one after pre-test. Formal test wasconducted in the whole group including196people. Reliability and validity of the screensystem were computed using statistic methods. The Tibetan version of Psychological Screen System of Chinese Recruitment wasdivided into two sections: Chinese Soldier Personality Questionnaire (the Tibetan version)and Chinese Soldier Intelligence Test (the Tibetan version). The Chinese SoldierIntelligence Test (the Tibetan version) comprised a digital operation and a verbal abilitytest. The Chinese Soldier Personality Questionnaire (the Tibetan version) included282items and8factors. Results of item analysis and reliability and validity test weredemonstrated as follows: 1. The difficulty and discrimination coefficient of verbal ability test in ChineseSoldier Intelligence Test (the Tibetan version) was0.71and0.30, respectively. Theinternal consistency reliability--Cronbach’s Alpha was0.87and the test-retest reliabilitywas0.78. These indexes indicated good quality of the verbal ability test.2. Results of digital operation test in Chinese Soldier Intelligence Test (the Tibetanversion) showed that correlation between correct completed rate and verbal ability testscores was0.63, reaching statistic significance threshold (P <0.01).3. Results of digital operation test in Chinese Soldier Personality Questionnaire (theTibetan version) revealed that internal consistency reliability--Cronbach’s Alpha was0.97.The test-retest reliability of subscales were: T scale0.54; S scale0.53; Set scale0.62; Netscale0.68; Dit scale0.78; Dev scale0.56; Imp scale0.74; Ant scale0.67. The normativescore of each subscale was determined by formal test results. In conclusion, this study developed Chinese Soldier Personality Questionnaire (theTibetan version) and Chinese Soldier Intelligence Test (the Tibetan version), and furtherexamined their reliability and validity. Finally, we produced computerized screen system.According to statistic analyses, form test results of the personality questionnaire and theintelligence test had good accordance with their theoretical constructs. Both systems hadfairly good reliability, validity and discriminative ability, meeting the requirements ofpsychometrics. To further test the quality of current screen system, future work shouldcarry out longitudinal investigation and enlarge sample size to make further improvement. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | CSPQ, CSIT, national difference, Tibetan culture, religion | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
