The Research On Fu Baoshi’s Life In Si Chuan And The Formation Of His Landscape Painting Style

As a representative of the twentieth century Chinese painter, Mr. Fu’s artistic achievements are obvious to all. He not only makes outstanding contributions to art history and theory, but also has impressive achievements in painting, especially in terms of landscape painting. During the period when the voice of innovation in traditional Chinese painting growing louder, Mr. Fu, with great courage and determination, created “Baoshi Cun”, “Rainy landscape painting” and other painting styles that have his own personal features. In the twenty-first century, the concept of innovation of Chinese painting is popular, but how to innovate is still a major problem that we are facing. To have a research on Fu Baoshi, who is a representative innovator of traditional landscape painting, has referenced meaning to innovate today’s landscape painting. By studying Fu Baoshi’s life in Sichuan, this paper attempts to explore the factors that influence the formation of Mr. Fu’s landscape painting style, so as to provide a little reference value for our Chinese innovative newcomers.This thesis is mainly from the following sections to research the initial formation of the Fu Baoshi’s landscape painting style. Firstly, it studies Fu Baoshi’s Art experiences and painting style before his coming to Sichuan; secondly, it discusses Fu Baoshi Bashi’s life in Sichuan; finally, it analyzes the influence of his years in Sichuan it has on the initial formation of his landscape art style.Firstly, by studying Fu Baoshi’s art history and painting style before his coming to Sichuan, we can understand why Mr. Fu Baoshi came in Sichuan, which former experiences have impact on his life and artistic career, and what role it played on the initial formation of his landscape painting style. All those enable us to better understand and analyze Fu Baoshi’s late landscape painting style.Secondly, in the chapters that study Fu Baoshi’s life in Sichuan,we discussed Mr. Fu’s living conditions, social communication and art creation in Sichuan,which paved the way for the research of the influence Fu Baoshi’s life in Sichuan has on his initial formation painting art style.Finally, in order to analyze the factors that may affect the initial formation of Mr. Fu’s painting style, we studied topography and climatic characteristics of eastern Sichuan. And we found that they have a significant impact on the initial formation of Fu Baoshi’s landscape painting style, especially play a key role for his "Baoshi Cun ", " Rainy landscape painting " and other painting style characteristics. During his years in Sichuan, he combined traditional painting theory and the theory of painting he had learnt when studied in Japan to explore landscape painting. And also together with national spirit, he formed his unique landscape painting style. The main features of his initial formed style of landscape painting are "Baoshi Cun ", " Rainy Landscape Painting ", water shaded block surface modeling and so on.Through the study of Fu Baoshi’s life in Sichuan and the initial formation of his landscape painting style, we found that the initial formation of Fu Baoshi’s landscape style is influenced by many factors. They are mainly his profound artistic theoretical basis, his early overseas study experiences and the local geographic environment in Sichuan. Among these factors, adhering to the national characters of Chinese painting and holding the bottom line of Chinese painting innovation are the footholds of innovating Chinese painting; his studying in Japan is a breakthrough for emancipating his mind and his bold innovation; the regional environment characteristics of Sichuan area are the keys to the initial formation of his landscape painting style. While all these factors came into being Mr. Fu’s landscape painting style is in Sichuan. Therefore, it is necessary to study Fu Baoshi’s years in Sichuan and the initial formation of his painting style.In short, after the study of Fu Baoshi’s years in Sichuan and the initial formation of his landscape painting style, i have a more comprehensive and deeper understanding of the factors that affect the formation of his painting style and traditional Chinese painting innovation. At the same time, i have a clear direction of forming my unique landscape painting style.
