A Report On The Translation Of Mechanical Seal Performance And Related Calculations

With the development of technology, mechanical seal has been widely used in different kinds of fluid machineries and devices. It is investigated that in refining and chemical industry devices, more than 90% of pumps use mechanical seal. Thus, mechanical seal plays an important role in pump shaft seal. Meanwhile, as the key component of nuclear main pump, the performance of mechanical seal has a direct effect on pump stabilization and safe operation. For the technique of mechanical seal in China is falling behind, it is necessary to learn from developed countries.This report mainly includes four parts, namely, task description, process description, case analysis and conclusion. The first two parts mainly analyze the background and significance of the thesis, as well as introduce the preparation before translation, the theory applied in translation. In this report, the most important part is case analysis which discusses the subjects in two aspects, vocabulary and sentence. The translated material demonstrates the linguistic features of mechanical English. Through case analysis, the author hopes to summarize its characteristic linguistic features confronted in translation. Finally is the conclusion, mainly tells the author’s experience and feelings in translation practice.
