| Experts and scholars in translation studies have showed great interest in practical translation for a long time. Academic papers and monographs themed at practical translation have made significant fruitful achievements. The thesis takes the first three chapters from a report titled Pastoralism and the Green Economy, as the text of the translation study. The author explores the strategies in translation work and the skills applied to words and sentences by a number of examples. These demonstrate that the three rules of the Skopos Theory are effective in guiding practical translation.Words and sentences are two major focuses in translating studies. In the lexical approach, the translator understands the meaning of a word in context in the original language first, and then confirms or applies the right expression according to the context in the target language. In the syntactic approach, the translator uses strategies of cutting, reversing, splitting, and restructuring to organize sentences in a way that is consistent with the target language. This ensures an accurate transmission of information and thus makes it a readable text for the target language readers. |
