Study On The Horse Industry In Hexi Disrtict Of The Han Dynasty

During the period of Emperor Hanwu, Hexi Disrtict was included in the territory of central plains of Han Dynasty. Due to the abundance of the snow-ice melting water from Qilian Mountain and the rich forest and forage rusources, coupled with the rich culture of local husbandry industry,ample human resources as well as the development of agriculture and transportation, the horse industry in Hexi district has been greatly developed under the objective background of consolidating border and defense of the central government, greatly developing cavalry and the expansion of the demands for the horses. To be specific, it mainly embodied on the expansion of posture and stables, the scientificity of feeding techniques, the advancement of skills in treating horses, the improvement of the species of the horses as well as the diversification of application of the horses in different fields and etc. which has not only consolidated the rule of Han Dynasty,safeguarded the security and stability in Hexi District, but also offered experience and lessons to the economic development and environmental protection in Hexi District.
