Hexi Postal System in the Han Dynasty keep obvious marks which inherit from Qin Dynasty, at the same time, they highlight distinctive characteristics of frontier areas’ postal system then. Post-stages in Hexi have been a prominent part not only in reformation of post organization and function but also in improvement of stages’ administration, post operation and thoroughfare certificate. What’s more, they have great influences on society at then time and later generations. Great changes have taken place in the above-mentioned several sides since the Han Dynasty Hexi post-stages system is a necessary and desirable part of the national post system. whether it approaches perfection or not relates directly to running conditions of the whole post system. On the other hand. Hexi prefecture locates in the fortification of the Silk Road. Therefore compared with post-stages of other areas, Hexi post-stages in Han Dynasty have unique significance and illustrate different deficiencies and the limitations.Besides introduction and summarization on Hexi post-stages in Han Dynasty, this paper mainly discusses detailedly about the Pavilion, funds dispatch, post operation, thoroughfare certificate of and some shortcomings which exist in the whole system in Han Dynasty’s post system in Hexi prefecture. Furthermore, this paper will present clearly the conditions of administration and operation of Hexi post-stages in Han Dynasty.
