The Study Of Sui And Early Tang Dynasties Yue-fu Poetry

Sui and Early Tang Dynasty poetry occupied the important status in the history of Yue-fu poems. "Folk Song and Ballad" records a total of one hundred and nine poets and nearly six hundred works during this period. However, due to the long history, the diversity of poets and the complexity of historical development, the record of Guo Maoqian is incomplete. Based on the reading and analysis of Wen Yuan Ying Hua, Quan Tangshi, Early Qin Han Wei JinSouthern and Northern Dynasties Poetry and other literary materials, this essay makes a supplement of poems which are not recorded by “Folk Song and Ballad”and focuses on the argument and analysis of the problems in it. Compared with the poems in Wei Jin southern and northern dynasties, the innovation of the Yue-fu poems in Sui and Early Tang Dynasty is characterized by the following four aspects. Firstly, the titles not only inherit from that of old Yue-fu poems, but also have some new titles with regard to events. Secondly, the content is more abundant in complex social reality with great cognitive value. Thirdly, the genre is increasingly stable. Fourthly, the syle turns to be vigorous and simple, which creates a concrete foundation for the styles of the flourishing period of Tang Dynasty. With the encouragement and promotion of the royal family,Yue-fu Poems obtained more development. Various types of poems developed rapidly,especially the poetry of Frontier Life, Journey scenery and so on which eventually became new genres of poem in the Tang period. Besides, there are also many innovations on the theoretical basis. The perfect fusion of the vigorous and simple features and rhyme metrical verse laid a solid and comprehensive foundation for the prosperous of Tang poetry.
