Report On Simultaneous Interpreting For Philippine Business Promotion Conference Of The 12^th CAEXPO

The first China-ASEAN Expo was held in Nanning, the capital of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region as well as the permanent venue, and has been successfully held for 12 consecutive years. CAEXPO serves as a platform for friendly cooperation between China and ASEAN. Moreover, it is a reflection of the fruits yielded between the two sides. This annual event is also a link to retrospect past achievements and develop future cooperation. National promotion conference is a bridge linking countries together to understand each other better and demonstrate comprehensive national power.The author is much blessed to shoulder part of the simultaneous interpreting task for the Philippine Business Promotion Conference. This experience provides the author with sufficient research corpus. In order to guarantee the authenticity of this research, the author recorded the whole conference.This thesis takes the form of interpreting project report and focuses onaspects, namely task description, preparation, scenario analysis, post-interpreting summary and conclusion. The report analyzes some commonly used tactics during simultaneous interpreting and the phenomenon of information slipovers due to overload of the brain and its coping strategies. The overall conclusion is premised on author’s various analysis of this experience in the hope of providing some enlightenment and inspiration for fellow practitioners.
