A noun of locality refers to a noun representing direction or location, which is an essential element in human cognitive world as well as an extremely important concept of space in human cognition. Korean and Chinese belong to different types of language, but both of them use the nouns of Locality to express the spatial relationship. The noun of locality in Korean can be divided into self-source noun of locality and Chinese-source noun of locality according to the origin, and also can be divided into simple noun of locality and compound noun of locality according to the word-formation standard. In contrast, there is only one classification method in Chinese, that is, the noun of locality in Chinese can be divided into simple noun of locality and compound noun of locality. However, since "(?)" as a Chinese-source noun of locality in Korean has fewer basic meanings and extended meanings, this paper does not list " (?) " as a single object for study but only makes a brief description when it comes to the use of "(?) ". The main research objects of this paper are "(?)" in Korean and "上" in Chinese, and through a research on their basic meanings and extended meanings, this paper summarizes the similarities and differences as well as the corresponding relation between the two words. This paper mainly makes a research on the nouns of locality which represent the direction of upside among the nouns of locality, namely, " (?)", a noun of locality in Korean, and "上", a noun of locality in Chinese. The third chapter explains the two relations emerging when the two words represent basic meanings, namely, contact relation and separation relation, in order to find the similarities and differences as well as the corresponding relation when the two words represent basic meanings. The third chapter makes a contrast of the extended meanings of "(?)" in Korean and 上" in Chinese. It first introduces the extended meanings of "(?)" in Korean and then introduces the extended meanings of " 上" in Chinese. In the third section, extended meanings are divided into timeliness extended meaning and abstract extended meaning. This section makes an analysis of extended meanings in order to find the similarities and differences as well as the corresponding relation when the two words represent extended meanings. The fourth chapter is a conclusion which summarizes the similarities and differences in the use of the two words as well as the contrast result.
