Study On The Poetry Of Shanzuo Poet Feng Tingkui And His Family In The Early Qing Dynasty

Feng Tingkui was a weighty poet in the parnassus of Shandong in early Qing Dynasty, whose poetry were approved by not only the then literary leader Wang Shizhen,but also peers of Feng,Zhao Zhixin,TianWen,XuQiu,Xie Chonghui,etc.Feng Tingkui didn’t follow the prevailing poetry theory verve during Kangxi period,but formed his own poetic style,dominated by the character of vigorous and bold.During his life,Feng Tingkui kept in close contact with many famous literati then such as Wang Shizhen,Zhao Zhixin,Tian Wen,Xie Chonghui,Cao Zhenji,Xu Qiu.They participated literary rallies,created poems together and replied each other..meantime exchanged poetic ideas and skills.After his death,His grandson Feng Depei searched his posthumous works and compiled the anthology Feng Sheren Yishi, Which is the only existing collection of Feng’s poetry.Feng Shuqing,his great-great-grandson,also left 16 poems known up to now. And one can easily find that they carry the part of free and natural characters of Feng Tingkui’s poems.Although many studies on Feng Tingkui have been done,are still not comprehensive.About his poetry,the academia focused on the characters of lucid and aphoristic,whereas neglected the other ones.About his poetry theory,the academia didn’t make a thorough analysis,Although they do find that Feng advocated a wide range of learning.About his social activities,the academia only concern about the relationship between Feng and Zhao Zhixin,and greatly overlook connections between Feng and other literati.What’s more, study on his family and clan literature is still blank now.This thesis grasps a plenty of new-found materials,and investigates Feng’s family tree,his social activities, clan literature of the Feng detailedly.And analyses his poems and theory comprehensively.Only by doing this can people get a overall view and a objective evaluation on the creation of Feng.Moreover,have This thesis also makes contribution to the studies on Shandong clan literature as well as the mutual influence of poets in the early Qing dynasty.The thesis is consist of four chapters.Chapter One is about Feng’s lineage,the family tree and life events of two weighty members of Feng Tingkui’s family,which are his father Feng Pei and his great-great-grandson Feng Shuqing.Chapter Two is about Feng’s whole life and his literary activities.The thesis divides Feng’s life into several parts and introduces them carefully.Then investigates in detail the relationship between Feng and some other known poets,Zhao Zhixin,Wang Shizhen,Xie Chonghui,Xu Qiu,for instance.Chapter three is the thorough research about Feng’s poetry.firstly,This thesis introduces the foundation information of Feng’s poetry such as the existing editions of Feng Sheren Yishi. Secondly,This thesis supplies more than ten new-found poems and several essays.Thirdly,this thesis does thorough analyses through the contents and artistic style based on the existing researches.The last section isabout the poetry theory and aesthetic taste of Feng Tingkui.This thesis makes a overall inquiry about Feng’s poetry theory through several prefaces he wrote for other poets collections and the comments for the fellow townsman Xiao Weiyu’s poetry anthology Danyincao.Chapter four mainly discusses the poetry of Feng Shuqing,and the literary inherit-development relationship between him and his great-great grandfather.
