Research On Guan Renshan’s Peasant Novels

Guan Renshan is one of the troika in the literary circles of Hebei. In his novels, the rural areas are the main positions and the peasants are the main body. This paper is based on the research of Guan Renshan’s peasant novels (not including the popular novels written by the author).Through the analysis of the image of peasants in this novel, according to the different ways of coping with the double impact of the market economy and urbanization, the images in the novel are divided into three types: silent group, the village guardian and the leader of fashion in the new era. Then, it expounds the reason of the differentiation of this group about farmers which is farmer’s real survival predicament, including the lack of material life, the need for purification of rural political ecology and spiritual suffering. And this shows that the farmers’living environment and their fate in the social transformation period, and the process of the changes of peasants mind in the impact of market economy. Next, from the perspective of land and farmers, to discuss the development of rural areas, to explore the way out, and to express the author’s intention that using the literature to pay attention to the times and the society, to tell the author’s views on rural issues and his thinking about the modernity of rural development. Finally, it mainly analyzes the value of Guan Renshan’s novels. Specific performances are following; first is the new member of the character gallery, the modern image of peasants in Guan Renshan’s novels makes an important supplement to the image of the peasants in Chinese literature, which reflects the fate of the ups and downs of the whole peasant class in the social transition period. Second is songs for peasants; Guan Renshan will treat showing the emotions of peasants as his own responsibility, not only presents peasants’ suffering, also tries hard to praise the great peasants. Last is to use the literature to care for native country, using sincere and enthusiastic cultural feelings to care for hometown and peasants, warming the hearts of the people in the bottom by the literature.
