Abstract/Summary:
This dissertation discuss Schlick’s theory of free will mainly, and finish his main arguments of freewill, and represent his doubt about the traditional mode of the discussion of the freewill, and try to resolve this question.Schlick think there is something wrong with the traditional mode of the discussion of the freewill:The traditional mode of the discussion of the freewill always want to find a basis of ontology in metaphysics. That is to say, they always try to judge weather there is freewill through the world is deterministic or indeterministic. 2. The traditional mode of the discussion of the freewill always thought the validity of the causal laws equivalent to inevitability.3.The traditional mode of the discussion of the freewill thought freewill is the premise of moral responsibilitySchlick’s theory of freedom include mainly these points:1.The validity of the causal laws is a necessary assumption. And every discussing about the validity of the causal laws is useless.2. The opposite of freewill is compel instead of universal validity.3. Ensuring the normal operation of the mechanism of rewards and punishments is the essence of moral responsibility.4.We formed the awareness of "moral responsibility" through the awareness of freewill.According to what Schlick has said, I agree Schlick’s criticize to the traditional mode of the discussion of the freewill. But I don’t agree Schlick’s judgment on the essence of moral responsibility. So I make a tentative correction and make a further exploration to the problem of free will.
