A Translation Report On Sakyamuni Pagoda, Fogong Temple

With a high degree of opening-up, a growing number of foreign visitors are coming to China to enjoy our unique natural and cultural landscapes. As a bridge between Chinese and Western tourism, tourism translation has played an important role for foreign tourists. However, because of the lingual and cultural differences between Chinese and English and poor translating capacity of some translators, many translated tourism texts are of poor quality. Therefore, it is significant to improve the quality of translated tourism texts.Based on the author’s translation experience of Sakyamuni Pagoda, Fogong Temple, this report probes the difficulties in translation practice and puts forward the corresponding solutions, which provides reference values for tourism translation. The report consists of five chapters:Chapter One is an introduction, which includes the background, objectives and significance of the project; Chapter Two is an introduction to the translated document including the source, content and linguistic characteristics of the document:Chapter Three is the preparation and translation theoretical basis; Chapter Four introduces the difficulties and the solving methods; Chapter Five is the summary including the gains of translation and the efforts still need to be made.
