A Study On The Pronouns In Xihua Dialect

In recent years, the pronouns of Chinese dialects have aroused more and more attention in the field of grammar, and achieved a series of fruitful results. However, the study on the pronouns of Henan dialect is relatively less, the special study on the pronouns of Xihua dialect has not been found so far. The forms, basic usages and non-typical usages of pronouns of Xihua dialect are described and analyzed to show the full picture of the pronoun system comprehensively in this thesis.The thesis is composed of five parts. The first part is the introduction. It briefly introduces Xihua county, its dialect, and the related research situation. Then this part explains the study significance, research methods, data sources and the thesis style of the study. The second part makes a systematic study on the personal pronouns of Xihua dialect. Firstly, it introduces the forms and classifications of personal pronouns. Secondly, it makes a classified description of the basic usages of personal pronouns and non-personal pronouns according to the different semantic coverage, while it compares the similar pronouns between Xihua dialect, Modern Chinese and other dialects. Finally, it introduces two kinds of special usages of personal pronouns. The third part gives a systematic study on the demonstrative pronouns of Xihua dialect. Firstly, it introduces the forms and classifications of demonstrative pronouns in Xihua County. Secondly, it classifies and analyzes the demonstrative pronouns according to six different pragmatic functions, and then it introduces some other demonstrative pronouns, such as "[phaη53sar31](旁啥儿)". Finally, it expounds some special usages related to the basic demonstrative pronoun "this (这)/that (那) ". The forth part gives a systematic study on the interrogative pronouns of Xihua dialect. Firstly, it introduces the interrogative pronouns in terms of the forms and classifications. Secondly, according to the different basic interrogative pronouns, the interrogative pronouns are classified into eight kinds like "□[nuo55]", and then it describes and analyses the basic usages of each small class of second level based on the different query objects. Finally, four kinds of non-interrogative usages of interrogative pronouns are briefly introduced. The last part is the conclusion which summarizes the three characteristics of Xihua dialect pronoun and points out the problems to be further studied.
