A Practice Report On Liaison Interpreting For Tianjin De Yuan Industrial Co.Ltd.at The 21st China International Furniture Expo

With economic globalization, China’s exhibition industry has been developed rapidly. In the exhibition, the interpreter needs to use right expression to convey meaning. In addition, the interpreter should use tactful language to deal with tough task in the exhibition. As an exhibition interpreter, first you need to master professional knowledge. Apart from professional knowledge, the interpreter should have common sense. Therefore, the interpreter need to accumulate day by day and collect materials of relevant exhibition theme before the beginning of exhibition to grasp technical terms. And then, the interpreter can translate easily. This report is about the author’s interpreting practice on the 21th China International Furniture Expo, serving for Tianjin De Yuan Industrial Company. After the interpreting practice, the author summarizes the experiences and lessons from the process of liaison interpreting. During the process, the author came across many problems and their solutions are also put forward in the report. This report first describes the interpreting task, and then depicts the process of liaison interpreting itself, which includes the preparations made before the task, the interpreting process and the quality evaluation. Meanwhile, this report specially puts forward some targeted cases where the author analyses the problems and offers interpreting strategies. Finally, this report summarizes the lessons from the interpreting practice and measures to improve interpreting in the future.
