For Chinese learner, understanding the cultural unit in Chinese vocabulary is also important. This requires that students know factors contained in the vocabulary of culture and understand them, and can truly grasp the vocabulary. Some Chinese words with multiple meanings in articles or dialogue, we need analysis the context to understand the word’s meaning, this requires students can analysis the context from wordsand sentences, This is very important for Chinese language learners, if we can’t understand the word’s meaning, we may make a big mistake.In this paper, we want to research students how to learn Chinese diet words, these words come from< Syllabus of Chinese Words and Characters>(abbreviate as<Syllabus>), it is a very important reference material in Chinese teaching, it has a very scientific,authoritative and common character., and the respondents students’textbooks in international school of Yunnan university is<Boya Chinese>--which has a high close to<Syllabus>, so we use the diet vocabularies from< Syllabus> to research, we compare food words in these two books research the words’number and meanings in their learning situation, besides, researching can there find any culture factors in the article which these food words appear. By survey foreign student’s situation of studying and using diet vocabularies, we want to discuss how to use context in articles and dialogues, and choose the right sense of a word.By studying the teaching material and the questionnaire, I found that culture factors play a very important role on the meaning of foods’vocabulary, if students can grasp these factors, and ensure the article meaning by these culture factors, or ensure the article’s meaning by learnt some foods words which have some relationship with Chinese cultures. In this way students can have many benefits for their learning and understanding the diet vocabulary, reading the article.
