Since 1980s, there has been a cross-culture research in China. With the rise of sociolinguistics, people have turned their focus on language education from grammar to communication methods. Language is inseparably related with culture and it is important for foreigners to understand the Chinese culture and communicate effectively with Chinese.However, culture learning has long time been a weak point in Chinese education. Teachers used to pay more attention to pronunciation, vocabulary, grammar, Chinese characters and other basic theoretical teaching. Therefore students will inevitably have difficulty in understanding and grasping Chinese. Faced with this problem, the concept of culture introduction has got more and more attention.The understanding of culture is essential to improve a foreigner's communicative competence, so that Chinese teachers should help the learners to get the insight related to similarities and differences between and Chinese culture and their own culture, which will make their lecture vigorous and informative as well as interesting.Therefore, through analyzing the cultural terms in the six books of "Chinese Spoken Tutorial", this paper is aimed at discussing various principles and effective methodologies to introduce culture during the course of language teaching and then better their understanding of Chinese words and culture.
