In the early nineteenth century, Robert Morrison was the first person in British Protestant to do missionary in China. In addition to the world known missionary identity, he had a more important identity-the famous British Sinologist. This paper base on "Memoirs of the life and labors of the Robert Morrison" and "A Grammar of the Chinese Language" two books for the study. Giving systematicand comprehensive discussion of acquisition view which Morrison held by Chinese learning process, and combined with the current actual learners in China cases, finally providing references and enlightenments to modern foreign language teaching.This article is divided into five parts:The first chapter is an introduction, mainly introduces the origin of the topic of this article, current researches, research methods and the significance of them. The second chapter mainly around Morrison ’s life and related works of Morrison then conduct a comprehensive introduction. The chapter 3 aims at one of his work "Memoirs of the life and labours of the Robert Morrison" to generalize and summarize its acquisition of concept. And chapter 4 makes a study according to "A Grammar of the Chinese Language" which mainly analysis his Chinese views from three angles: sounds, characters and grammars. The last chapter bases on the results of the questionnaire analyses, showing further comparative analysis of Morrison’s Chinese acquisition outlook from the current reality, exploring the enlightenments and influence of these views to today’s teaching Chinese as a foreign language.
