This project report is written based on the translation of Investment Brochure of Huashang International Food City (Global), and belongs to the translation of Chinese corporate publicity brochure. The paper, from the perspective of the translator, records the analysis, preparation and completion of the report and sums up the problems and solutions encountered in the translation process.The paper consists of five parts, including the project introduction, pre-translation analysis, working process, case study and conclusion. The case study is the focus of the paper. The author analyzes the text type of the source text based on Peter Newmark’s text typology firstly, and then the selected cases by using some translation strategies and methods under the guidance of Hans Vermeer’s skopos theory. From the lexical level and syntactical level, the author gives a detailed study about the cases, which mainly contains translation of redundant expressions, the conversion of Chinese nouns into English verbs, culture-loaded words and expressions, run-on sentences and translation of long sentences.At last, the author summarizes the experience and limitations learned during the writing of the report. Meanwhile, the author hopes that this paper can offer some references to other translators when translating similar types of source texts. |
