The scheme of pinyin spelling of Chinese and The basic rules of orthography of pinyin spelling of Chinese are the criteria of pinyin spelling of mandarin. Since implemented, they have been guiding our practical spelling. The purpose of this paper is to analyze and discuss the rules of pinyin spelling of Chinese trisyllabic idiom expressions, based on “The scheme” and “The basic rules”, to deepen the understanding, application and development of the guiding documents and to provide suggestions or maybe some certain bases for the pinyin spelling of Chinese trisyllabic idiom expressions in dictionaries and living life.Firstly, the introduction chapter discusses the study subject of this paper,including its definition, research history and current situation; then introduces the purpose, significance, scope and methods of this research; and explains the basic contents of the research in the end, especially the statistical category analysis of Chinese trisyllabic idiom expressions.The second chapter is an overview of the rules of pinyin spelling of Chinese trisyllabic idiom expressions, expounding the basic principles to be followed in this study briefly.The third chapter is the detailed research of the spelling rules of Chinese trisyllabic idiom expressions on 16 kinds of classifications on structures,features and word classes, containing the verb-object type, attributive-centered type,adverbial-centered type, subject-predicate type, verb-complement type,consecutive predicates type, combined type, additional type, directional phrase,prepositional phrase, classifier phrase, auxiliary word, numeral, proper noun,transliteration words and ABA type.The fourth chapter is a systematic study of five types of pinyin spelling of Chinese trisyllabic idiom expressions, including“1+2”separately type, “2+1”separately type, “1+1+1”separately type, semi-continuously type and wholly type.The fifth chapter is the summary and prospect of this research. The rules of spelling of Chinese trisyllabic idiom expressions are reduced to five for practical learning and application. And in the end, the paper expounds the key points, difficulties and problems in the research process.
