| Tibetan is one of China’s major minorities, inhabits Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Since it is a religious minority, the concept of history is vague, leaving few historical works. Diwu’s Book on the Origin and Development of Religions, a book finished during disperse separatist period, besides Chos-vbyung me-dog snying-po sbrang-rtsevi bcad, Ba Xie and a few other works, it is one of the older preserved Tibetan historical records. It is significant for our understanding of the early history. The book saved a lot of Tibetan history content, such as political, military, legal system content of Songtsen period, providing valuable information for our understanding of the early Tibetan history. It documents the widespread statement of the Tibetan 108 temples, Wosong, Yundan and other historical facts during disperse separatist period. These important Tibetan historical data can be mutually supporting and Chinese historical, to better understand the study of Tibetan history, with supplying effects on Tibetan history.Firstly, this thesis discusses the background and author of Diwu’s Book on the Origin and Development of Religions, summarizes its contents from two aspects of Buddhism origin and Tibetan history.Secondly, the writing mode of Diwu’s Book on the Origin and Development of Religions is unique, having some effects on later religious history books. It is one of the important historical records of Tubo period, with a high value, is worthy of further study. Diwu’s Book on the Origin and Development of Religions explores new writing mode of Tibetan religious history books——annals, having some effects on later religious history books. It is an example for us to understand the writing mode of Tibetan history books during dispersion regime period, it is worthy of further study. The book uses research learning methods frequently, reflecting the author’s rigorous style of study.Finally, this thesis mainly discusses the historical values and thoughts of Diwu’s Book on the Origin and Development of Religions. The book corrects Tibetan history, providing a reference for our in-depth understanding of Tibetan history. Its historical values are natural records, focus on facts and less literary flavor. It reflects the author’s historical thoughts that give priority to Buddhist history concept and combine the history of secular society, showing his historical thought of shunning for Buddhist. Diwu, who can give consideration to the history of secular society as a Buddhist under the influence of Buddhist historical concept, is estimable. |
