The Birth Of The Utopian Thought And Its Development In English Novels

Man has been dreaming an Ideal society for a long time, because the world we lived in is so cruel and the life is not perfect.We are not satisfy with the life and the society.So we dreamed many beautiful dreams, Utopia is one of them. This thesis’s purpose is to search for utopia’s historical origin and realistic foundation and also aim to study its development in English novels. The first chapter mainly discusses the historical origin of the Utopian thought,the second chapter mainly discusses the realistic foundation of the Utopian thought, the third chapter discusses the birth of the Utopian thought, and the forth chapter discusses its development in English novels. Then come to a conclusion:Utopia is not useless,as a kind of thought、a kind of spirit,it gives us inspiration and hope.We need Utopia,because no matter when,no matter how,we need have optimistic spirit and ideal faith, then we can enjoy the moment and pursue a better future.
