Compared with English which is inflectional language, Chinese is independent language, and lacks of morphological changes in grammar. Therefore, Chinese uses words and order to express grammatical meanings. Dynamic auxiliary word’zhe’is an important function word to indicate changes of action and state, and it is an important points of teaching.Due to the differences of English and Chinese, it has become the difficult points of teaching.This thesis comprehensively makes an research on the English speaking students’ use of’verb+zhe’in pattern and semantic collocation through the intermediary language corpus and the questionnaire survey. On the basis of previous studies, we summarize the characteristics of Chinese using’zhe’, analyzes the similarities and differences of Chinese and English in the expression of continuing state,as a basis for comparative study of foreign students’use of’verb+zhe’in pattern and semantic collocation, and give teaching suggestions. The thesis mainly consists of five main body parts and the conclusion part.Part One explains the meaning and the purpose of the research, the methods and the source of the date. It reviews the research on’zhe’from Chinese ontology and theory of the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language.Part Two summarizes semantic collocation rules, basic pattern of’zhe’and the characteristics of Chinese use of’zhe’.Part Three summarizes the English corresponding expressions of’zhe’, and the Chinese corresponding expressions of the continuous tense through statistical corpus analysis. Moreover, we comparatively analyze the similarities and differences of’zhe’ and the continuous tense in semantic collocation.Part Four investigates foreign students’use of’verb + zhe’pattern, semantic usage and semantic collocation through intermediate language corpus and the questionnaire. We also analyze foreign students’avoidance phenomenon and errors in use of pattern and semantic collocation on the basis of contrastive analysis.Part Five analyzes the compilation of "zhe" in four popular teaching material. At last, we raise the corresponding teaching suggestions.The last part is the conclusion of the thesis. |
