| Since the end of twentieth Century, a large number of rural surplus labor go into the city with the rapid development of China’s urbanization process, resulting in a number of special groups, whose name is rural left behind children. In left behind children’s childhood, their parents go out to work because of the family economic reasons. However, these parents left their children to grandparents, relatives or neighbors due to the problems such as the household registration system and exclusion of social security. Children are prone to forming improper personality due to without parents’ company, which may pose the adverse effects for their development. Rural left behind children studied by the present study can be extended to social vulnerable groups, concerning the construction of the harmonious society and the development of the future overall quality of population of China.The Intervention place of this study is Y town H country of Xi an city. The mental healthy problems of the investigated children were researched via deep interview and questionnaire survey. Whereafter, 10 of them who had severe mental healthy problems were intervened by the manner of group intervention. “invisible social workers†was introduced within the process of group intervention, meaning social workers participated the group intervention as a staff of behind the scenes, and the activities were held by a group member. 7 group activities were carried out, including the stages of rational knowledge, acquainting, changing attitude, cultivating habits, solidifying behavior and review. After the end of the group activities, these children’s mental situation were tested in terms of MHT. The results demonstrated that their mental healthy problems were evidently improved. 9 of them were converted to mental healthy people, but there was still a child having mild mental healthy problem. To solve his problems, case works were used to help him. Field research, deep interview and strength Perspective theory were employed to cure his mental healthy problems. By means of conversing with his patriarchs and children of the country, it was concluded that the kid’s mental status and school records were improved apparently. Summarizing the experience, it was conclude that the intervention of rural left-behind children by social work was effective and feasible.This study has proved that social work intervention is an effective method to reduce rural left behind children’s mental healthy problems. "invisible social workers", a new intervention model, was proposed to provide theoretical direction for the choice of the model of social work intervening rural left-behind children’s mental healthy problems. |
